Philosophy
Your body has the innate ability to regulate its functions, restore balance and maintain health given the opportunity. Unfortunately there are many stresses in the modern lifestyle that works against this. Therefore it is essential to strive for optimal physical, emotional and nutritional/chemical health so that the body is able to help itself.
Your central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and spinal nerves) control the function of every cell, tissue, gland, organ, muscle and function in the body.
As the vertebral column provides support, flexibility and most importantly protection to your nervous system, it is the most vital component of the body, and often the most neglected.
Chiropractors are the only specialist trained to locate dysfunction in the spine and correct this to ensure optimal function and minimise irritation to the nervous system.
Chiropractors are renowned for relieving spinal related aches and pains such as neck and lower back pain, disc injuries, sciatica, headaches, migraines and other forms of referred symptom.
My aim is to find the cause of symptoms and correct spinal function to allow the body to heal itself. If your spine has good conditioning it is less likely to experience symptoms or irritate the nervous system.

About Jason’s Chiropractic work
Established in 2008 after practicing in the UK for 3 years and in North Ryde and the City for 12 years before that.
We have a family wellness based practice and encourage all members of the family to have their spines checked as you would your teeth. Most people are referred for x-rayfollowing a thorough orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic examination. A report is given on your second visit to discuss your x-ray findings and a recommendation for care. An appropriate technique and treatment will be specifically tailored to meet your needs.
We also supply a range of contoured pillows and mattresses as well as nutritional supplements.

What is Chiropractic? Chiropractic was founded in 1895.  It is the largest natural health profession and the 3rd largest health profession after General Practitioners and Dentists. Chiropractors are concerned with keeping the body healthy and performing at its ultimate potential by maintaining the alignment of the spinal column and keeping the nervous system functioning optimally. The nervous system controls every cell, organ, muscle and function of the body. The brain and the spinal cord are protected by bones, the skull and vertebra. When the vertebra lose their normal position or move improperly, they can irritate the nervous system. Chiropractors call these subluxations and they are not necessarily associated with pain or other symptoms.
Chiropractors locate and correct the subluxations with an adjustment, which are specific, gentle thrusts, that improve the function of the spine and relieve irritation to the nerves and allows the body to return to optimal function. The philosophy of Chiropractic states that the body has an inborn ability to heal itself. By correcting Vertebral Subluxations through the adjustment, the nervous system can work properly to allow the body to heal. Only you can heal your body. Many medications, including aspirin, don’t correct your problem, but only cover up your symptoms.  Though chiropractors are seen as back specialists, they work on any muscle, joint or nerve related conditions.

Are chiropractors professional? Chiropractors attend university for 4 to 5 years. They study along side GP’s and are specialists in spinal and other musculoskeletal conditions. Chiropractors are the only practitioner to study orthopedics, neurology, physiology, anatomy, radiography, radiology as well as musculo-skeletal therapies. Chiropractors use many different techniques to treat specific areas of the body. As with medicine, each technique provides the patient with various but specific benefits.

How does the spine work? The spine is the most important part of your body. It is made up of 24 moving vertebra separated my gel filled discs that act as shock absorbers. Its role is to protect your nervous system and also has to provide support and movement. The compromise of function leads to potential problems. The moveable parts can become injured or misaligned causing an irritation to the nerves close by. Irritation to a nerve can also cause numbness, pins and needles and muscle weakness but can also prevent an organ working properly, depending on where in the body that nerve goes. As nerves are so fragile, pressure on them can cause symptoms for months after pressure is relieved but sometimes the nerve will never fully recover.

What conditions can be helped by chiropractic? Chiropractors most commonly treat neck and back pain and stiffness, pins and needles in the arms or legs, sciatica, migraines and headaches. Though chiropractic does not treat illness or disease, the chiropractic adjustment can help relieve the pain associated with different diseases.Without any nerve blockages the body can boost its immune system and much more effectively fight disease and illness. A properly functioning body is more likely to heal itself.
